“Anglo Proves More than Victorious in National Round of World Scholar’s Cup”

Select Anglo Singapore International School pupils from Primary Six to Year Three were crowned Junior Champions for the second successive year in the national round of the World Scholar’s Cup tournament held at New International School, Thailand, on Saturday 28th April.

Students not only outdid their previous year’s success, but wholly dominated proceedings, winning each and every category – a feat largely made achievable by the outstanding Siwat Chang who romped home to victory with a host of medals and trophies.

The Anglo scholars, with high expectations placed on their shoulders, believed that anything less than a repeat of last year’s remarkable debut would be unacceptable. Adding to the tangible pressure, this year’s tournament featured more schools based in and around Thailand as well as schools from Jakarta and the Philippines.  Against all the odds though, Anglo-nerves did not waver and students astonishingly went on to seal gold in all fifteen categories along with a host of other medals and honorable mentions in both individual and team events which included debate, collaborative writing, the Scholar’s Challenge and Scholar’s Bowl. Their unparalleled achievement was testament to the painstaking effort and matchless determination they devoted to preparation in the run-up and participation in the event.

Great appreciation and respect has to be paid to all the students for their tremendous hard work, conduct, assistance and success throughout the year and during the tournament itself. They achieved above all expectations and now hopes are running high for a fitting finish to the Global round – to be held in Bangkok between June 21st and 24th – where they can cap a winning run to another triumphant Anglo year in competition.
