Student Leadership
Starting from their first days in the classroom, students at Anglo are encouraged to take on small leadership roles and be of service to others. They may start off in small ways, by being a ‘book monitor’ or a ‘line leader’, but these opportunities and responsibilities prepare them for more formal leadership roles in the future. Both primary and secondary students are given opportunities to develop their leadership skills, and our programmes are carefully crafted to cultivate skills like communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving, which are essential for success in the 21st century’s global environment.

Student Council
The student council serves as an inclusive platform for students to voice their opinions on matters that impact their lives. We believe that every student has the right to express their views, and the council serves as a representative body for the entire student population. We are committed to promoting fairness and equality, providing an accessible channel for students to raise their concerns.
The Primary Student Council is composed of delegates from grades P4 to P6 and actively participates in planning and executing school-related events. This participation presents a unique opportunity for students to enhance their leadership skills, allowing them to contribute their ideas to decision-making and planning. By taking ownership and responsibility for school activities, students become more engaged with the school community.
As students advance to their secondary education, they can assume roles in the Secondary Student Council, acting as the leading voices of the student body. From Secondary 4 onwards, all students will participate in planning student council activities. Additionally, there are annual elections for the Secondary Student Council Executive Committee. By encouraging students to develop their leadership skills, the council prepares them for their future, equipping them with the necessary skills to become successful leaders. The student council offers an ideal platform for students to grow and develop their abilities, empowering them to be leaders in their communities and beyond.

As prefects, students have the potential to positively influence the school environment and the behaviour of their peers by championing positive change in the school community. Research has shown that when children are actively engaged in leadership roles within their school, and their ideas and opinions are valued and listened to, they feel respected and motivated to make further contributions.
The Primary Prefectorial Board was established with the aim of cultivating leadership skills in students from Primary 4 to Primary 6, through training and empowerment. We offer a range of opportunities for young people to develop their leadership style and representation skills, and we entrust them with responsibilities that align with their strengths and abilities.
Selected for their character, leadership potential and academic achievements, secondary prefects take on a vital role in fostering a conducive environment through their service. The Secondary Prefectorial Board aspires to nurture these young students to become future leaders of their communities.
Prefects take on daily duties within the student body and are involved in planning and facilitating morning routines, House Bonding sessions, team building activities and fundraising projects for both school events and community projects.
We believe that by nurturing and encouraging students to take on leadership roles, we can help them build confidence, develop valuable skills, and become more responsible members of their community. Through the prefect programme, we strive to create a positive and inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of our future leaders.
